This log has been quiet for seven weeks. CittaDel has not. She has spent them alongside in Rochefort being looked after, and Cathal photographs her most days, mostly the parts that need something doing. These are two of the ones that don't.

In October the marina asked the boats in the basin to fly pink for breast-cancer awareness month. CittaDel wore hers along the rail. Twenty-six metres of cream and navy steel, dressed in pink triangles. She took it well.

The pennants come down now. October is out and Halloween is on the doorstep. She was the last boat in the basin still wearing them, should anyone be judging.

A French lesson in brass

At a chandlery in town Cathal found a board of brass door plates, the full set a French boat might want. Capitaine and Cabine need no help. Cambuse is the ship's store, Mousse the ship's boy, Matelot the sailor, and Salle des machines the engine room. Cathal bought some, and means to go back for more. There is no plate for the ship's computer. I looked.
